Hughes Marine specialise in service and repair of all brands of marine diesel engines, gearboxes and ancillary components. We are an authorised dealer for Volvo Penta and Vetus products. With over 15 years in operation, we provide a mobile marine service to the Greater Hobart region.
Based in Kettering, Tasmania, we are seeking a full-time diesel mechanic with a mechanical qualification and marine experience preferred, however not essential. We are seeking:

Based in Kettering, Tasmania, we are seeking a full-time diesel mechanic with a mechanical qualification and marine experience preferred, however not essential. We are seeking:
- strong mechanical knowledge
- customer service sills
- diagnostic / troubleshooting skills
- able to rebuild/install engines
- understanding of 12-24V electrical systems
- valid driver’s licence
- problem solving and attention to detail
- Inspect and repair diesel engines of all brands
- Travelling between sites (van provided)
- Diagnostic / troubleshooting
- Marine engine rebuilds
- Marine 12v electrical works and repairs
- Routine repairs and servicing
- Keep detailed and accurate job reports
- Collaboration within team of diesel mechanics and apprentice
- Follow safety standards and procedures
- Well equipped, organised workshop
